In September 2004, Simon Balle became one of the first humanities specialist schools in England. For us, this was a natural step which enabled us to establish ourselves locally and nationally as a beacon of good practice. Our lead subjects help us to develop innovative ways of learning and create opportunities for our students. This humanities ethos enhances every subject within our curriculum.
Our ethos has for many years had a focus on our responsibility and understanding for other global communities. Fund-raising for those less privileged has always been a hallmark of our caring school. As a humanities school we continue to promote this as we want our students to realise that they are change-makers and that they need to be able to take informed, responsible action. We will help them to play this role, as the next generation.
