This Sixth Form prospectus, alongside the online section, is designed to give an insight into what we have to offer at Simon Balle for students hoping either to progress to higher education or to increase their qualifications in order to enhance employment prospects.

We currently have over 270 students undertaking Advanced Level courses. Students also have the opportunity to re-sit GCSE examinations in English and Maths. Every student participates in a programme of General Studies, designed to extend and develop the Citizenship activities delivered in the rest of the school. We have worked hard to develop relevant work experience opportunities for students wishing to specialise in a particular field.

We hope that you will find a combination of subjects to interest you amongst the broad range on offer and that you will wish to become a part of what is a vibrant and diverse sixth form community, in which each individual is valued. Simon Balle Sixth Form prides itself on providing opportunities for intellectual and social development and we look forward to working with you.

Of course Sixth Form life does not focus solely on academic achievement. Sixth Form students are actively encouraged to develop their own personal and social skills through leadership of younger students and participation in a wide range of extra-curricular activities, many of which are organised by Sixth Formers themselves.

Support and Guidance

We are very fortunate in possessing a team of non-teaching staff dedicated to supporting students in achieving their full potential.

We conduct regular interim reports, based on academic assessment and detailed personal discussions with subject teachers and there is regular feedback to parents.

We offer excellent support and guidance programmes, including advice on the selection of Higher Education courses and employment.
